NDC releases timetable for internal elections

Following an outcome of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Monday, May 9, 2022, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined the timetable for its registration, branch, ward, constituency and Regional elections ahead of the 2024 polls.

The binding decisions on all party structures are spelt out as follows;

1. Limited branch registration: May to June , 2022.

2. Branch elections: June to July, 2022

3. Ward Elections- August

3. Constituency Conference: September 2022

5. National Congress: November 2022

A. All newly created Branches shall have new Branch Executives

B. Branch forms will cost Ghc10.

C. Forms will be distributed from National through Regions and Constituencies to Branch levels.

D. Only members of a branch who registered by 2018 with their names in the green book (branch register) can contest.

E. However all members with their names on the branch register including those to be registered during the limited registration can vote.

F. Election shall be publicized 3 days to the election day and shall be held at the usual meeting place of the branch or as agreed by the branch.

G. The branch elections shall be supervised by officers assigned to the branch including, National, Regional and Constituency officials.

H. Any person dissatisfied with the Election may appeal to the Constituency within 2 days of the election and the constituency in consultation with the Region shall resolve the matter within 7 days and order for a new election on the particular position appealed where necessary.

I. There shall be new guidelines for the conduct of elections for National, Regional and Constituency officers after the branch elections.
